SIBU: Four Indonesian women who were confirmed Covid-19 positive on Wednesday were found to have returned to Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Sibu deputy police chief Supt Collin Babat said the four individuals are now in Entikong, West Kalimantan.

“The women boarded the bus at 1pm on Wednesday from Sibu to Entikong via Serian,” he said.

Today one of the individuals involved contacted a woman who accompanied them to take the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) swab test at a medical centre to inform her that they were now in Entikong.

“The Indonesian woman used a foreign number to call the woman and told her that they were picked up by someone in Serian and then continued their journey through the forest to reach Entikong,” he said.

Collin said they received a report from a health officer on Wednesday at 9.19pm saying that the four women were positive for Covid-19.

“The four of them were not found after undergoing an examination at a private medical centre in Jalan Pedada here,” he said.

Based on initial investigation, Collin said the women were taken for a health examination by a 38-year-old woman on December 6 for employment purposes.

“The woman said she was contacted by one of the Indonesians that day (Dec 6), who told her that they were looking for a job.

“The woman then told her that they must undergo a Covid-19 examination first for that purpose before picking them up at a bus stop at Jalan Tebu and taking them to the medical centre, as well as sending them back.

“Then on Tuesday, the woman was again contacted by the Indonesian woman to get their test results and to undergo a Covid-19 examination for the second time.

“She also informed that she did not know the Indonesian woman,” he said.

Collin added that the woman was ordered by the Ministry of Health (MoH) to undergo a 14-day quarantine at the Kemuyang Youth Camp.
