KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor, Datuk Wee Hong Seng will be having his 194th ‘ShallWeeTalk?’ session via Facebook Live with Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd to gain better understanding of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS).
In a press statement issued yesterday (Dec 14), MBKS said the sharing session would give the public an opportunity to understand more about the KUTS Project.
“KUTS will serve as the backbone system to minimise and alleviate traffic congestion towards Kuching City centre.
“At the heart of the KUTS project is the ART system, Sarawak Metro,” said Wee in the statement.
Adding further, the statement added that the aspiration of having a sustainable public transport solution that not only tackled the issues of climate change, but also spread public awareness on the potential applications of green technology was reflected in the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell-powered ART vehicle outside China.
Wee took the opportunity to thank the Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) for inviting MBKS to join and experience the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) during the recent test ride along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway, as part of Sarawak Metro’s Proof-of-Concept exercise.
“Thank you for the hospitality during the ride and providing an opportunity for the council to gain a better understanding of the KUTS project.
“I would like to invite the residents of Kuching to join the sharing session via Facebook Live. Anyone who wishes to ask questions can do so during the live session. Please spread and share this invitation among your family and friends,” Wee said in the statement.
The sharing session will be shown live on the mayor’s facebook page, ‘Wee Hong Seng FB Page’ on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 1.30 pm.
