KUCHING:  Democratic Action Party’s (DAP) victorious Bandar Kuching candidate Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen says “nobody knows”  which coalition will merge and form the government following the 15th general election (GE15).

Dr Yii, who retained his seat, highlighted that the post-election results had led to a political turmoil following the new ‘hung parliament’ crisis after the voting results were announced yesterday (Nov19).

In his Facebook post today, Dr Yii said many have approached him for an answer to the question but he has no clue about it.

“To be honest we do not know yet. I feel it is important the moderates in the country seek ways to find commonalities in our differences, for the good and future of our country. Let’s pray for Malaysia,” he said, thanking the voters.

The two-term MP further assured that he will not take Bandar Kuching voters trust and support lightly and will work to the best of his ability to serve them and to represent their voice in parliament.

He also expressed his concerns on the growing religious conservatism in Malaysia looking at the scenario post-GE15.

Dr Yii won the Bandar Kuching seat for the second term with a majority of 28,891 votes.

He garnered 45,353 votes, defeating his opponents from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Eric Tay, and Parti Sarawak Bersatu’s (PSB) Voon Lee Shan, who managed  to secured 16,642 votes and 1,760 votes respectively.
