MUKAH: Mohamad Nazrin Othman and Roziah Ayup emerged champion in the ‘qari’ (men) and ‘qariah’ (women) category respectively at the Mukah Division-level Al-Quran Recital here on Monday (Aug 24).
First and second runners-up in the qari category were Nazaruddin Jeraie and Fakhrul Nujaid Khalidi respectively.
Muhammad Haziq Hafiy Hassan, Abang Ahmad Abang Mantali and Shahrizal Musa won consolation prizes.
In the qariah category, Hasipah Barawi and Noorulhusna Abdul Kadir won the second and third spots respectively.
Masyietah Yusri, Meryam Bol and Zainon Derasit took home consolation prizes.
Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi gave away the prizes to the winners.
A total of 12 participants, comprising six men and six women, took part in the event held at the New Administrative Centre here.
Mukah Division Resident Hamdiah Bakir, Sarawak Islamic Department Mukah officer ustaz Norazman Abdullah and Setia Raja Mosque committee chairman Ismail Mawi also attended the event.
