A fire ant bite can have fatal consequences and can even lead to death.

This was the unfortunate fate of Cathy Weed in Lawrenceville, Georgia, USA, who passed away after being attacked by fire ants.

Cathy Weed accidentally stepped on a fire ant mound while walking near her home.

As a result, she, a mother of a 15-year-old child, was bitten by fire ants and suffered a severe allergic reaction.

Due to a delayed response in treating anaphylaxis, several minutes passed until the victim was exposed to the allergen, ultimately resulting in her death.
