BINTULU: A fatal car accident occurred yesterday, where a woman died from injuries sustained after her car collided head-on with a pickup truck along Jalan Bintulu-Miri.
Suzanti Yakob, 49, sustained serious injuries after her car collided head-on with a pickup truck.
The collision also caused injuries to the 36-year-old pickup driver.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported that the accident occurred around 10.45 am, and the authorities were notified immediately.
Firemen from Samalaju station, located about 39 kilometres from the accident site, were promptly deployed to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found Suzanti trapped in her seat and had to perform extrication works to free her.
Despite their efforts, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. Her body was later transferred to the hospital by the police.
