MIRI: A 69-year-old woman, Chin Moi Moi, was killed while four others were injured in a two-vehicle collision here yesterday morning.

The collision involving a four-wheel drive (4WD) and a Perodua Viva occurred at the Merbau Permyjaya traffic light intersection along Jalan Desa Pujut.

According to Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the 4WD from Kuala Baram was heading towards Riam while the Perodua Viva came from the opposite direction.

The deceased was a passenger in the Perodua Viva driven by her 77-year-old husband Chin Fook Lin.

Injured were the driver of the 4WD Mohamad Johari Hussaini, 39, and passengers Mohd Husul Rafizi, 11, and Minah Shafiee, 65.

An alert on the crash was received around 9.05am and 10 firemen from Lopeng Fire station rushed to the scene to help remove the injured victims from the vehicles.

The actual cause of the incident has not been determined yet and the case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
