Yayasan Sarawak a cut above the rest in sports fest

KUCHING: Yayasan Sarawak emerged as the overall champions in the 14th Malaysian Inter-State Foundation Sports Festival (PESAYA).

They took 12 gold, nine silver and three bronze medals, which contributed to a total of 95 points.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was present at the closing ceremony held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here, yesterday (Feb 19).

Yayasan Sabah came in second place with two gold, seven silver and eight bronze medals for a total of 51 points.

Yayasan Johor were third place with five gold, seven silver and eight bronze medals, collecting 44 points.

The tournament from Feb 10 to 19 saw the participation of 1,131 athletes from 13 state foundations in 15 sports categories.

The next PESAYA will be hosted by Yayasan Islamic Kelantan.
