KUCHING: The youth play crucial role in shaping the future of the tourism sector through sustainable and responsible practices.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting said that young people have the power to influence their peers and society by setting examples in protecting and preserving Sarawak’s unique natural and cultural heritage.

“Our youth can inspire others to adopt responsible practices and contribute to a more sustainable tourism industry,” he said at the Sarawak Youth Talent (SYT) 2023 prize presentation ceremony held at Farley Mall Kuching here today (Aug 6).

This year, SYT received an impressive total of 501 entries, reflecting the growing popularity and heightened awareness among the younger generation toward the tourism sector.

SYT is more than just a competition; it serves as a platform to nurture creativity and promote initiatives in tourism. The youth showcase their creativity through poster design and one-minute TikTok videos, encouraging a sense of responsibility toward the community and the environment.
