The Bomba team prepare to cross the river.

BAU: Eleven people were rescued after being stranded on the opposite side of a river at Adis Buan Resort, Kampung Segong here last Sunday.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue (Bomba) operation centre, they received an emergency call regarding the victims — 10 males and a female — trapped on the opposite side of the river.

It was known that they were unable to cross the river due to the strong current.

A team of ten firefighters from Bau Bomba station carried out the rescue operation by tying a rope to a tree to reach the stranded victims.

The depth of the river was estimated to be five feet, along with the strong current flow.

All the victims who were in stable condition were rescued at 9.45pm.
