KUCHING: A 16-year-old boy drowned while swimming with his friends in a river at Kampung Giam, Jalan Puncak Borneo, Siburan today.
State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assistant operations director Tiong Ling Hii said the victim, identified as Mohamad Fakhrul, was pronounced dead due to drowning.
He pointed out that the department received the distress call at 2.50pm from the victim’s friend regarding the incident
“Upon arrival at 3.20pm, the victim had been fished out by villagers but he was already unconscious,” Tiong added when contacted.
“The body has been handed over to the police for further action,” he said.
