18 villages and two schools to get clean, treated water

KUCHING: Eighteen villages and two schools will enjoy clean, treated water once the new pipelines from Bawang Ubor to Pangkalan Jawa junction to Rh Jubang junction are extended.

The project was kicked off on Today (Nov 16) by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

“Once the extension work is done, more than 3,500 villagers will get to enjoy clean, treated water from the Berawan water treatment plant.

“The project is one of 160 to be implemented by the Northern Region Development Agency in Limbang and Lawas with a RM1.5bil allocation,” he said.

He mentioned that there were also a few mega projects to be implemented in the northern region such as the 87km Northern Coastal Highway, which is expected to start construction in the second quarter of 2023.

Also present at the launch were caretaker federal Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang and Regional Corridor Development Authority chief executive officer Datu Ismawi Ismuni.
