MIRI: A total 23,696 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been successfully administered by four private hospitals in this division since May until mid-August this year prior to their closure after serving as vaccination centres (PPVs).

Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) minister-in-charge, Datuk Lee Kim Shin said these PPVs were Borneo Medical Centre (BMC), which has administered 10,874 doses of vaccine; Miri City Medical Centre (MCMC) (3,047); Miri Columbia Asia Hospital (4,895) and Miri KPJ Hospital (4,880).

“These private hospitals were set up as PPVs for this division to help accelerate our vaccination process. We managed to inoculate 85 percent of our population earlier than we have expected,” Lee said.

Columbia Asia Hospital, which was made as a PPV on May 25, ended its service on Aug 20, while the other three ended theirs on Aug 17 and 18.

BMC, MCMC and Miri KPJ Hospital were established as PPVs on June 14 and 21 this year.
