KUCHING: A total of 34 villages in the Demak Laut constituency had successfully conducted the annual “Program Ihya Ramadan” which began in 2011.

All the villages joined hands to cook and distribute ‘bubur lambuk’ (savoury porridge) to each village from April 9 – 17.

Apart from distributing the ‘bubur lambuk’, donations were also presented to mosques and suraus in the constituency to carry out religious and community activities in conjunction with the fasting month of Ramadan as well as annual activities that had been planned.

Contributions were also presented to the ‘asnaf’ group which included the elderly, single mothers, the disabled (OKU), orphans and low-income families.

“This programme is also to cultivate the spirit of goodwill and strengthen the relationship among the communities,” said a statement.

The programme was recently officiated by Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability and Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.
