KUCHING: Since May 8, a total of 48 persons have been compounded for violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

“Of the total, seven men were compounded at eateries for not practising social distancing and two others were compounded for not providing infrared thermometers at their premises,” said District police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani recently.

“The remaining 39, consisting 22 men and 17 women, were served the compound at a bistro also for not adhering to social distancing.”

Then last Friday, 24 persons including 10 women were each fined RM1,000 for not observing the SOPs.

Awang Din said the persons — all local premises owners and customers — did not adhere to social distancing when checked at 10.35pm.

He then advised the public to always abide by the SOPs as stern action will be taken against violators.

“We will continue to fine offenders throughout the RMCO (recovery movement control order),” said Awang.
