KUCHING: A total of 50 summonses were issued to motorists for various traffic offences by the police here during a crime prevention operation at Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yakub in Petra Jaya, last Friday night.
Kuching Police District chief, Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said in the operation, which started from 10.00pm on Friday until 5.00am yesterday, 84 individuals including 10 females were checked.
He also said during the operation, a motorcyclist tried to avoid police inspection by travelling against the traffic flow when he saw the roadblock.
Abang Ahmad said during the pursuit, the man in his 20s lost control of the machine and crashed at Datuk Abang Haji Kipali Roundabout.
He said the suspect was later detained for further questioning after he was tested positive for drugs.
