60 from Kakus receive MRP grants totalling RM1.331mil

KUCHING: A total of 60 recipients consisting of village development and security committees (JKKKs), non- governmental organisations (NGOs) and associations from Kakus receive a total of RM1.331mil in Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants.

Aid was also given to JKKK Rh Jungan, Tamin that was destroyed in a fire last August.

“Each year, approximately RM3mil or more MRP funds are distributed. This allocation can help longhouses such as repairing longhouses and to carry out some activities.

“We also want every longhouse resident to know every allocation received and we must be open and transparent in this matter,” said Datuk John Sikie Tayai, Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Office, told the media on Today (Dec 1).

“In relation to the organisation of the Tatau Festival, I congratulate the Tatau Festival organising committee for the good cooperation of all government agencies and associations in Tatau District.

“The Tatau Festival was a great success and next year, we will organise it again in June.”

He also hoped that the Sungai Jatan Community Park Project and the Road Upgrading Project on the Batang Anap Bank could be completed before the regatta.

At the ceremony, an MRP grant from Unit for Other Religions amounting to RM300,000 was also presented to St Paul’s Church, Kakus.

Delivery of MRP cheques to the JKKKs, NGOs, government agencies, associations and parent-teacher associations.
