LAWAS: The sudden deluge that hit the state’s northern region has resulted in 67 individuals being evacuated to the Trusan Community Hall temporary evacuation centre (PPS) here today (May 20).
State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre, in a statement today (May 20) at 5pm, said the evacuees are from seven villages in this district.
It said among the villages involved are Kampung Seberang, Kampung Perumahan Gelapas, Kampung Senduyun, Kampung Masjid Lama, Kampung Tengah, Kampung Pengeran Kerta and Kampung Gelapas.
Meanwhile, the operations centre informed that another PPS, the Mendamit Community Hall PPS, was also opened in Limbang at 3pm this evening (May 20).
Besides Lawas, other districts, namely Marudi, Miri, Bintulu and Limbang were also affected by the flood.
The affected areas in Marudi include Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Long Luteng, Kampung Lellang, Mulu Town and SK Penghulu Baya Mallang.
Other areas were Long Beruang in Miri, Miles 8 and 9 of Jalan Bintulu-Miri in Bintulu and Rumah Antabang Lubok Pasu in Limbang.
