KUCHING: The State Women’s Day in August this year will be held through live conferencing via Zoom apps, said Sarawak Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

She added only 100 participants, including women ministers and eminent personalities, would be invited to attend the annual event at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

“However, we are inviting all women across state to participate Sarawak Women’s Day to join us via digital apps. Women from each district can join the event through all 129 Internet Centres in the state,” Fatimah said in her welcoming address at the Sarawak Women and Family Department (JWKS) Excellence Service Award 2019 held at Wisma Wanita in Jalan Sultan Tengah on Tuesday (June 16).

Fatimah added the Chief Minister’s wife, Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang would be the guest of honour at this year’s state-level Women’s Day celebration themed “Sarawak Women in Early Childhood Education”.

Stressing the importance of adapting digital technology during this pandemic crisis, Fatimah pointed out that her ministry was one of the forefront ministries utilising digital telecommunication to organise courses.

“During MCO, JKWS   took the initiative to hold digital online courses via Zoom apps.

“Among the courses and programmes that had been conducted online were courses under Wisma Wanita Training Centre (WWTC@Online) programme and two online marriage courses including the marriage course online “Long Lasting Relationship” and Webinar “Till Jannah: Smart Marriage by Uwais,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Excellence Service Awards 2019 organised by JWKS saw five civil servants receiving awards for best working performances.
