KUCHING: Sarawak Skills Development Centre (SSDC)’s subsidiary company — Automotive and Welding Institute of Sarawak (Awisar) — recently launched its Oxy-Fuel Gas Welding training programme.

The training programme is designed to increase the knowledge, skills and efficiency of the participants in conducting gas welding. At the end of the programme, the participants will be able to install gas welding equipment and perform Oxy-Acetylene Welding.

The first batch of participants comprised technical personnel from One Medicare Sdn. Bhd. The three-day training programme, which commenced on Sept 2 at Awisar in Demak Laut, focused on 20 percent theory and 80 percent Oxy Gas Welding practice.

The programme was launched by SSDC executive director, Hallman Sabri and One Medicare Sdn Bhd chief executive officer (CEO), Sazali Tuah Neli on the same day.

According to Hallman, SSDC and its group of institutions are actively proposing more up-skilling and reskilling training programmes to the industries in its quest to propagate lifelong learning.
