KUCHING: The arrangement for a medical team to fly to Rh Long Jeeh, Ulu Baram to carry out Covid-19 swab tests on its residents today was postponed to today due to a technical problem with the helicopter.
Following alternative arrangements made by Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin, the team, comprising two doctors, two health inspectors and a nurse, will be flying out at 8.30am tomorrow.
Two helicopters will be used — one from Hornbill Skyways and a Medivac from Layang Layang Aerospace Sdn Bhd — to transport the medical officers and swabs.
The medical team was initially scheduled to leave this morning using a Fire and Rescue Department helicopter.
However, Lee, who is also minister-in-charge of the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), was informed late on Wednesday evening that the helicopter had to be grounded due to a technical problem.
This morning, Lee contacted Hornbill Skyways, acting Miri Resident, and the divisional medical officer to make alternative arrangements.
The Covid-19 swabs tests have to be carried out after two positive cases were detected in Rh Long Jeeh. The longhouse, consisting five blocks, was placed under lockdown for 14 days from Jan 26 to Feb 9.
