Residents from Matu and Igan set up a road block at the village entrance to prevent outsiders from entering because of growing number of Covid-19 cases.

MUKAH: Jemoreng assemblyman, Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya reminds his constituents against endangering themselves and others during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Have pity on families in the village, do not be selfish by endangering yourself and others, and learn from mistakes elsewhere,” he said.

He directed this advice to residents who insisted on returning to their hometowns especially those from red zones suich as Sibu, Sarikei and Dalat.

“Those residents from red zones should postpone their trip back to their village temporarily.

“I also request Matu residents who are in Sibu and Sarikei to postpone the journey back home during this period.

“Return to the village only if it is urgent and there is an emergency. The villagers are also advised to only leave their homes when necessary,” he said when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune today.

Juanda chided some villagers who dared to return using rat trails (jalan tikus).

He urged the villagers and longhouse residents to keep strict access to and from their respective areas to help the government curb the spread of Covid-19.
