KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has applauded the good relationship that exists between Brunei and Malaysia.

He pointed out that the good relationship is more evident now given the current Covid-19 situation.

“There are many things that Malaysia and Brunei have settled together through the pandemic. For example, the Brunei government has facilitated matters pertaining to the transportation of Covid-19 patients from Limbang to Miri.

“Moreover, commercial vehicles that bring food supply or building and construction materials are permitted to transit through Brunei before going to Limbang and Lawas,” he said when asked about Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s recent visit to Brunei.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development, added that the good relationship and collaboration can be further enhanced.

“With that, we can have discussions on other sectors. One of which is to further strengthen collaboration in terms of economy and telecommunication, like our current sharing of fibre optics that connects through Brunei, Limbang and Lawas,” he said.

On another note, Awang Tengah stressed on the importance of getting oneself enrolled for the Covid-19 vaccination programme.

“The vaccine is necessary for us to take care of ourselves and the community. It will allow us to go back to our normal lives whereby we can look for sustenance and our children can go back to school,” he said.

He also urged the public not to pay attention to those who disseminate incorrect information regarding the Covid-19 vaccination.
