699 new cases, majority from Kuching

KUCHING: Sarawak has recorded 699 Covid-19 positive cases today (June 11), bringing the total number of positive cases in the state to 54,330. 

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said that a total of 427 or 61.09 percent of the total cases detected were in four districts namely Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Tatau.

Kuching recorded the highest number of cases at 205, and followed by Sibu (79), Bintulu (72), Tatau (71), Song (41), Kapit (31), Bukit Mabong (31), Miri (27), Sri Aman (16), Samarahan (16), Asajaya (16), Lundu (11), Serian (11), Kanowit (nine), Subis (eight), Sarikei (seven ), Simunjan (seven), Telang Usan (six), Marudi (five), Bau (four), Meradong (four), Belaga (three), Tebedu (three), Sebauh (there), Beluru (three), Selangau (three), Mukah (three), Dalat (two), Julau (one) and Lubok Antu (one).

Of the 699 cases reported, a total of 92 people had shown signs and experienced symptoms of Covid-19 infection during screening.

SDMC said that while 469 new cases have been recovered and allowed to be discharged from the respective hospitals and Covid-19 Low Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) across the state.

Of the total, 123 are from Kuching, 85 (Bintulu), 84 (Miri), 66 (Sibu), 36 (Mukah), 21 (Betong), 19 (Kapit), 16 (Sarikei), Sri Aman (15) and four (Lawas).

To date, this brings the total number of Covid-19 positive cases that have recovered and discharged to 44,374 in the state.

In addition, the number of active cases that are still receiving treatment and segregated in the PKRC and hospital wards is 9,498 people.

Meanwhile, there were 699 new person-under-investigations (PUI) reported and none are awaiting laboratory test results.
