MUKAH: Fisherman Abdul Rauf Ahmat Juwawi, 55, now has a new wiring system in his house at Kampung Sungai Alo here, thanks to an initiative undertaken by Politeknik Mukah (PMU).

Thirty-two PMU lecturers and 10 students were involved in the charity programme, its fourth edition since 2019.

Work involved fixing wiring for electrical circuit to accommodate eight units of lamps, and power circuit for 14 units.

Electrical Engineering Department (JKE) head Nik Aznan Ab Hadi said the objective of the programme was to enhance the spirit of cooperation among the JKE populace and local community, while educating the participants to always contribute to charity.

“We make full use of the available time we have to do something beneficial while improving our skills and gaining experience in doing electrical wiring, which we did not do for quite sometime due to Covid-19 pandemic.”

He explained that what was important was to help train and expose the students to electrical wiring work, so that they could build up their skills and apply them when they complete their course.
