KOTA SAMARAHAN: Contractors found deliberately breaching contract terms and doing shoddy work could see the termination of their contracts, says Datuk Peter Minos.

The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman expressed his discontent for drawing the short end of the stick after taking the blame for numerous uncompleted projects as a result of contractor complacency.

“Everyday, members of the public complain of projects half done or not done as scheduled. The council always gets the blame, even for projects under the purview of other agencies,” he said on Monday (Jan 10).

“MPKS is also unhappy with contractors doing shoddy work.

“From now on, MPKS will do its best to ensure more checks, monitoring and supervising. If necessary, action will be taken to enforce contract terms and to ensure that contractors do not ‘main main’ (play the fool). The council is getting fed up.

“MPKS is also not happy with contractors using the pandemic as an excuse for over-delaying projects and engaging in non-compliance in Samarahan.

“Now that the country is in Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), there is no reason for further project delays.”
