KUCHING: Even with sufficient manpower, the search for crocodile attack victim Mohammad Adami Moktar remains fruitless as the operation enters day four today.
A spokesman from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said as of 6.40 pm yesterday, the teams did not find any clues to the whereabouts of the seven-year-old victim.
The third day of the operation yesterday covered a search radius of 5 km from where the victim was snatched by the reptile at Kampung Nyabut, Telaga Air.
A total of 43 rescuers comprising of the Fire Department’s diving team, Safety Water and Rescue Team (SWART), K-9 unit, the police, Civil Defence Force (APM), Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) and Volunteer Corps Department (Rela) are involved in the operation.
By 6 pm, there were still no clues to the whereabouts of the boy.
On the day of the incident, Adami was crouching on the high ground of the riverbank before a crocodile jumped out of the river and snatched him away around 8.30am.
Prior to the incident, the victim’s 48-year-old grandmother, who was near the victim, was alerted by the two sisters who were shouting about a crocodile. The sisters aged 11 and 12, who were playing by the jetty, had noticed the reptile.
