Three-day tour of Pan Borneo Highway begins

KUCHING: The Works Ministry and its media friends have embarked on a three-day journey across the full stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway as part of its nationwide FTRoadpedia Tour.

The flagging off of the participants was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at a renowned hotel here this morning.

The delegation was led by Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and joined by Deputy Infrastructure and Port Development Minister Datuk Majang Renggi amongst others.

The 826-kilometre journey from Kuching to Miri aims to review the progress, issues and challenges of the Pan Borneo Highway project, which is currentl 83 per cent completed.

The programme kicked off with a journey over to the Simunjan Interchange section, about an hour away from this city.

It was then followed by a stop at the Sri Aman Interchange sections before the delegation left to inspect the Betong Interchange sections and ended the first day of the programme in Sibu.

The second day of the programme tomorrow (Jun 10) will also see numerous stops along the highway before ending at the Nyabau Interchange sections.

The final leg of the road tour on Saturday (Jun 11) will start with a briefing on the Nyabau Interchange sections followed by a site visit to Miri Interchange sections and a press conference.
