MIRI: A total 350 pupils of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sayed Othman Miri and their parents are taking part in the Tabataton programme yesterday morning.

It was held with the aim to raise funds to help the school’s underprivileged pupils.

Held at the Miri City Council (MCC)’s football field, the event was officially launched by Cr Leslie Lau Ik Chie who represented Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.

Ting, in his speech text read out by Lau, lauded the efforts by the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) raising fund via the programme (Tabataton) to help pupils from the lower income families.

“I was told that 90 per cent of the school’s pupils are coming from lower income families,” said Ting who is also Piasau assemblyman.

He said added, that such event helped support those less fortunate in the school.

Also present were the school’s headmaster Affendi Paun and its PTA’s chairman Iswandy Japar.
