APM Miri successfully secures the house.

MIRI: A 28 year-old housewife was stunned upon seeing a one-metre long cobra slithering out from a ceiling of her house in Kampung Pengakalan 2 today afternoon.

The woman was putting her baby to sleep when she saw the reptile around 12.14pm.

She became more terrified when the snake fell onto the TV’s cabinet leading her to immediately grab her phone and called up the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Miri for help.

According to Miri APM officer in-charge Captain (PA) Usman Harto, a team of his personnel was despatched to the scene and arrived at 12.35pm.

It took them less than 20 minutes to secure the area.

Both mother and her baby were safe.

“The reptile was released back into the wild,” he said.
