BAU: Tasik Biru Festival, which will be held from Sept 11 to Oct 2, is expected to attract 60,000 visitors to the lake vicinity.

Deputy Minister of Transport 2 Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the 11-day festival will be Bau’s official tourist event in the years to come.

“Hosting the festival is in line with the vision of both the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia and the state’s Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts”, he said during the Tasik Biru Festival press conference at Tasik Biru Food Village yesterday.

Henry, who is also Tasik Biru assemblyman, said that this year’s festival is different compared to previous years as it is putting more emphasis on the tourism concept to help the economic well-being of Bau.

In explaining this, he said six main clusters will be presented during the festival – Local Culture, Performing Arts, Tourism Products, Bau Kitchen, Festival and Services for the Community.

“Based on the clusters, visitors may participate in the activities, such as – Jong Regatta, Miss Tasik Biru, Food Bazaars, Bau Bike Gathering, lucky draws and many more”, he added.

Meanwhile, the organising committee also held discussions with stall vendors and organisers to host the festival for three years starting this year until 2024.

With that, Tasik Biru Festival organising committee and the organisers involved in the clusters signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish future collaborations on upcoming Tasik Biru Festivals.

Also present at the press conference were Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang and Bau district officer Anielia Siang.
