Four bills to be tabled in upcoming DUN meeting

KUCHING: Four Bills will be tabled in first meeting of the third session of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) 2018 starting from today until July 18, 2018. According to the DUN Speaker, Datuk Amar Haji Mohd Asfia Awang Nasar, the bills are the Supplementary Supply Bill 2018, Supplementary Bill (2018) Bill 2018, Oil Mining (Amendment) Bill 2018, and L and Code (Amendment) Bill 2018.

“The first two Bills (Supplementary Supply Bill 2018 and Supplementary Bill (2018) Bill 2018) will be presented by the second Minister of Finance, Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, followed by the Oil Mining (Amendment) Bill 2018 by Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and the Land Code (Amendment) Bill 2018 by Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas,” said Asfia.

He was speaking at a press conference after the Pre-Council Meeting for the Third Session of the 18th State Legislat ive Assembly held at the Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters in Jalan Bako here yesterday. Asfia disclosed that a total of 380 questions (oral and written replies) had been received from 50 honourable members.

“Of these 380 questions, 299 are for oral replies, 80 are for written replies and one rejected question (oral reply), with the Chief Minister’s Department receiving the most number of questions at 68,” said Asfia. Among other things included in the DUN sitting are four motions under Standing Order 23, namely, Amendment of Land Code for Automatic and Unconditional Renewal of Land Lease and Concessions of State Road Maintenance, by David Wong Kee Woan (N54 Pelawan), together with a motion to remove the Restriction of Cement Monopoly Market in Sarawak and Sarawak Government to Provide a Fair and Equitable Funds for All Elected State Representatives in Sarawak by Dr Ting Tiong Choon (N74 Pujut).
