Juanda Jaya presented BKSS 8.0 to oenerima recently in Matu

MATU: Traders should take the initiative to diversify their products, improve on packaging and branding to market their products more successfully.

Jemoreng assemblyman Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya wants such steps to be taken to boost the growth of local Small and Medium Industries (SMEs).

Traders especially in the Matu area should be more creative in selling their products, he said.

“Small traders are the driving force of the economy and this economic activity starts with small traders,” he said at the presentation of Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 8.0 held at the Pergau Community Hall, here recently.

Also present were Assistant District Officer Matu Zaraina Sahari and Head of Public Health and City Services Section, Apohrozy Ezrie Ellie.

He said the government has prepared various schemes to ensure businesses continue to grow and develop.

Towards this end he encouraged the participation of traders in any related programme to increase productivity and business development.

Juanda also advised traders to acquire knowledge in company management such as financial management and related matters to facilitate applications for related assistance from the government.

A total of 26 recipients of BKSS 8.0 from the 44 listed were present to receive the assistance.

Small traders with permits and licences from the Matu Daro District Council (MDMD) were given a special cash assistance of RM1,000 each.
