BINTANGOR: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is embarking on putting various projects into action to make sure that development, particularly in the rural parts of Sarawak, is sustainable.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol stressed that the success of the effort does not only depend on the government but demands the cooperation of all parties, including community leaders.

The projects depend heavily on cooperation and mutual understanding between all stakeholders.

“No race should feel excluded from every planned development because all races are represented in the leadership of the GPS.

“It is certain that every development that is implemented benefits all levels of society, directly or indirectly,” he was quoted as saying in a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).

He was speaking during the Chinese New Year 2023 (CNY) celebration ceremony at the Sungai Sian Bintangor Community Hall, yesterday (Jan 19).

The Semop assemblyman said that after funding has been secured for various ‘Projek Rakyat’, including the building of a new embankment for the Bintangor River, the area will take on a new appearance.

“There are a lot more projects being planned, therefore we sincerely hope that everyone will work together to make the projects that are planned a reality,” he said.

Earlier, Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing in his welcoming speech appreciated the commitment and cooperation of Abdullah Saidol to develop Bintangor over time.

This, he said, was demonstrated through a number of development projects that the two of them applied jointly which had benefitted the locals.

On the same note, Ding emphasised that the GPS government’s ability to carry out various development projects with vigour and smoothness is largely due to the political climate of calmness and the cooperation of the Sarawak community.

At the ceremony, a donation worth RM3,000 was also presented to the Yong Shen Sarikei Lion Dance Club.
