KUCHING: Voters in Ba’Kelalan have been urged to give their fullest support to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidates especially in the Lawas parliamentary seat in this 15th general election (GE15).

Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) secretary-general and Ba’Kelalan chairman Datuk Nelson Balang Rining said this in view of the lack of development taking place in Ba’Kelalan in the last ten years since the area is under the opposition.

“As such people in the area are urged to abandon the opposition, especially Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) candidate Baru Bian who has been an opposition for over a decade but has not brought any development to Ba’Kelalan,” he said.

He added that even when Baru who was then the Federal Minister of Works under the 22-month Pakatan Harapan (PH) ruling, the latter did not bring any development to his constituency.

“So I would like to urge our people of Ba’Kelalan to render their full support to GPS candidate Datuk Henry Sum Agong,” he said.

He said this so that more development could be brought for the area and have better access to development funding.

“Since Ba’Kelalan has been under the opposition, it has been lacking basic amenities such as roads, electricity, and water.

“This supporting GPS candidate is important so that we have political stability and a continued physical and economic development in the Ba’Kelalan.” He said.

Meanwhile, Balang is confident that caretaker Deputy Minister of Transport Sum Agong and Lawas incumbent is able to retain the Lawas seat for GPS.

“Lawas is a PBB stronghold due to the presence of PBB deputy president Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan.Under Awang Tengah, he has been able to bring so much development to Lawas.

“Therefore, now it is high time for us in Ba’Kelalan to rally behind GPS and win this election,” he said.

For the Lawas parliamentary seat in this general election, Henry is facing Baru and Japar Suyut of Pakatan Harapan (PH).
