Datuk Abdul Latif Abdul Kadir Customs DG

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Abdul Latif Abdul Kadir has been appointed the new Customs Director-General, effective today (June 5).

Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali, when announcing this today, said Abdul Latif replaced Datuk Seri Paddy Abd Halim, who went on compulsory retirement.

Abdul Latif, 59, joined the civil service in 1985 as a Customs superintendent and was formerly Customs deputy director-general (Enforcement and Compliance).

Mohd Zuki said Abdul Latif, who had also served as a state customs director, had vast experience in enforcement, compliance management, customs and taxation.

“I believe with the experience, knowledge and credibility, Abdul Latif will be able to continue with the Customs Department’s aspirations to achieve world-class customs administration,” he added.

Mohd Zuki also expressed his appreciate to Paddy for his 37 years of service and contributions as a civil servant. – Bernama
