KUCHING: Sarawak State Library is urging fitness enthusiasts and dancers to join its Aerodance programme in conjunction with ‘Night at the Library’ programme on Feb 24 (Saturday) from 7pm until 10pm, at Frontview, Pustaka.
This programme is organised by Sarawak State Library in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy, Kuala Lumpur.
Aerodance encourages participants to exercise in the form of Zumba dancing. In Aerodance, participants get to have fun by dancing and also increase and maintain their physical fitness at the same time.
Participants from all ages are encouraged to join this activitiy.
Besides Aerodance, there are other fun activities that await members of the
public that night such as ‘Paper Quilling’ and ‘Tale of Tellers’ session.
‘Paper Quilling’ is the art of creating decorations with just paper and one’s creativity and imagination. It can produce various creative outcomes whether it is card decoration, photo frames, gift bags or any type of stand-alone 3D art pieces.
‘Tale of Tellers’ is an interactive storytelling session for children whereby they take part by reading the story out loud and bring out the characters to life through acts of facial expression and the usage of sounds. This session will take place at the Children Infotheque of Sarawak State Library.
The unique part of this programme is that it will be held during night-time because one of the objectives of this programme is to promote the idea of carrying out beneficial activity at night for the community whereby the Sarawak State Library is trying to change society’s common perception that night-time is not a suitable time to carry out activities that are centred towards learning.
Currently, Sarawak State Library is trying to increase the usage of collections and services available at the library through new and interactive methods of learning at night-time, such as this ‘Night at the Library’ programme.
This programme is also in line with the Sarawak State Library’s role in promoting lifelong learning to its users.
Several food trucks will be available on site and lots of attractive prizes are up for grabs from our lucky draw session. Admission is free!
