MIRI: Women, Childhood and Community Well-being Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah believes people with disabilities can achieve great things as long as they have a strong will to change their lives.

She said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government has been supportive in assisting people with disabilities, providing grants or funding and supporting their projects to help them generate income.

“The State government strongly supports the disabled in terms of increasing their opportunities in various fields by providing grants for modern farming or in other sectors,” she said on Sunday during a visit to physically challenged individuals in Piasau here.

Fatimah was in town for a working visit in conjunction with the State-level Women’s Day celebration to be held on March 8 which is to be hosted by Miri.

At the same time, she urged people with disabilities to be more proactive in requesting for government grants because the government has set aside a huge allocation to help those with disabilities improve their lives.
