BAU: Sarawak Labour Department (JTK) yesterday launched its second series of integrated operation together with Sarawak Social Security Organisation (Socso) here and uncovered 85 violations under the Labour Ordinance (Sarawak Chapter 76) and the Council Act National Salary Consultation 2011.

The special operations, involving 15 enforcement officers from both departments, inspected nine workplaces and issued nine notifications of infringement to employers who were advised to take corrective actions.

State Labour Department director Awang Raduan said the violations included employers’ failure to keep complete personal list of their employees (nine cases), failure to keep a full list of terms and conditions of payments (nine cases), failure to keep full payroll and allowances (nine cases), failing to give notice of their business start-up (nine cases), failure to provide a copy of full payroll and allowance to employees (six cases) and failure to pay employees overtime (six cases).

“One investigation paper was opened for violation under section 119 of the Labour Ordinance (Sarawak), that is employing non-resident workers without a licence,” said Awang Raduan.
