MIRI: Police detained a local man for threatening to kill his parents on Friday.
Miri district deputy police chief, Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol said the suspect, aged 34, was picked up by a CID team around 11.30am to assists in their investigation over the alleged threat.
During the arrest, the police also seized a machete, allegedly used by the suspect during the incident.
Earlier Friday, the suspect had reportedly gone amok inside his parents’ ‘bilik’ of a longhouse in Bekenu after they had refused his demand for cash.
Fearing for the safety of his family and the longhouse dwellers, the suspect’s father lodged a police report.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
