Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said this is to provide Members of Parliament (MPs) an opportunity to review and make comments on the Bill.

“The Parliamentary Special Select Committee (PSSC) appointed by Parliament on April 11 has deliberated on the proposed Bill. And I’m ready to table it (Bill).

“I am confident that there will be no more obstacles on the proposed Bill because it has been discussed by all parties,” he said.

He said this in a press conference after handing over 66 sacrificial cows for Santubong parliamentary constituency in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration at the Agriculture Department Livestock Quarantine Station at Jalan Bako on Saturday (July 9).

“Basically, the coming Bill that we are going to table is a refinement of the previous one that I drafted earlier,” he said.

On whether he is optimistic that the proposed Bill will be passed, Wan Junaidi said that he is always optimistic.

The tabling and debate on the Anti-Party Hopping Bill was scheduled to be tabled for the first reading on March 24 but was postponed twice.

The Bill could not be tabled at the Dewan Rakyat sitting last March because it needed to obtain the views and input of all parties involved.
