APM rescue citizens trapped in car following flash floods

KUCHING: The Civil Defence Force (APM) has rescued stranded citizens as a result of flash floods.

According to a statement by APM today, their officials have rescued three victims who were trapped in a car in Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho.

“One of the victims was an elderly man with disabilities. He was accompanied by two women,” it said.

The APM official assists an elderly man.

The APM personnel is currently keeping an eye on the areas around Sarawak General Hospital. It is believed that a vehicle was stranded in the middle of the road near the hospital.

The personnel are also seen pushing vehicles to higher ground and assisting in controlling traffic flow in the area.

Meanwhile, in Kampung Gersik, waters are beginning to recede, and vehicles are seen being able to pass through the area.

The heavy downpour that has been occurring since early this morning has badly affected a total of 24 houses in the village.

“The waters had risen to ankle depth due to the continuous rain. APM personnel are still supervising the situation in the area,” the statement added.

An APM official is seen monitoring the flood situation in Kampung Boyan.
