The APM Betong office received an emergency call around 10.50am and despatched four of its men to the Malaysian Government Servants’ Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak) housing complex to rescue the stray puppies.

The team found the puppies soaked in water in the drain behind one of the houses.

The personnel brought the puppies out and cleaned them.

Both puppies were later released in a safe area.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, APM Mukah personnel received an emergency call last night regarding a stray cat that fell into a flooded ditch.

According to a member of the public, an attempt to rescue the feline was unsuccessful and the authorities were alerted for assistance.

By the time the team arrived and rescued the cat, the cat was lifeless. The APM personnel helped to bury the carcass.
