KUCHING: A man was arrested at about 10.40am on Wednesday for causing grievous hurt to his brother recently.

The suspect, a fisherman aged 48 was arrested in a house at Santubong near here. He was alleged to have slashed his brother using a parang (machete) outside their family house. The assault happened on 14 January at about 9.25am during a quarrel between the two siblings.

The victim aged 39, received slash wounds on his head and leg was left bleeding outside the house. The quarrel and slashing were witnessed by their parents.

Police were called and the victim was taken to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment. He is in stable condition and a police report has been lodged. The suspect was tested negative for drugs and is being detained for further investigation.
