Auxiliary firefighters act swiftly to prevent house from further damage

DEBAK: Swift action by auxiliary firefighters prevented a house at Rh Edmund Guting Sengalang from complete destruction on today.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a distress call around 12.30pm and sent firefighters from the Betong station to the scene, some 35km away.

Upon arrival, they found that the fire had already been brought under control by auxiliary firefighters.

The team later took over the scene to ensure that the fire was completely extinguished.

The house, inhabited by two individuals aged 23 and 32, suffered 45 per cent damage. No injury or casualty was reported.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.

Meanwhile in Kuching, a lorry belonging to the Civil Defence Force (APM) caught fire along Jalan Tabuan Jaya.

The fire, which occurred at the engine bay, caused 20 per cent damage but fortunately, no one was injured in the 3pm incident.
