MIRI: Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian has described the Vista Perdana Phase 3 Permyjaya Miri as one of the government’s efforts to help home buyers from the B40 and M40 groups, including young people to buy a house at affordable prices.

“It reflects the government’s continuous effort to help the middle- and low-income groups to own a house,” he said today (Nov 24) at the earth breaking ceremony of Vista Perdana Phase 3 Permyjaya here.

Citing the various initiatives and programmes introduced by the state government, including the Housing Deposit Assistance Scheme to help first time home buyers under B40 and M40 whereby the Sarawak government provides RM10,000 cash assistance, he said this is part of the government’s social integration policy to help and take care of low- and middle-income groups.

“This is how Sarawak government works, we are sharing the wealth that we obtained from our revenue and give it back to the people,” Dr Sim said.

Unlike prior to the change of the government at the federal level, he pointed out Sarawak just tengok saja (as a mere bystander) when it comes to funding for housing development projects.

“Now, we are able to provide fund to manage and help our people to buy affordable houses … this is what Gabungan Parti Sarawak is doing,” he added.

Dr Sim lauded the Naim Group of Companies (Naim) for its participation in the Vista Perdana Permyjaya housing project since 2019 and described the local developer as a very reliable partner to the Sarawak government.

“Naim has carried out numerous affordable housing projects for the people and with their expertise, they can go internationally,” he added.
