SIBU: The irresponsible act by some individuals in removing the barricade tapes at Pasar Tamu Sibu Jaya has caused an unorganised entry of visitors.

Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) secretary Justani Joni said they were only informed of the incident this morning.

“The police have informed us that the barricade tapes were removed and requested us to put it up again.

“This irresponsible act has caused visitors to freely enter the premises and not using the one path which has been set,” he said when contacted today.

The barricade tapes were used to facilitate the entry of visitors to the pasar tamu to ensure that visitors’ temperature can be checked and their details recorded for contact tracing.

“We have informed the enforcement officers put the tapes back up again.

“I believe the tapes were removed on Friday. We hope such an act of vandalism would not happen again,” he said.
