SEBUYAU: The Batang Lupar bridge project will be tendered out in the first quarter of this year, says Assistant Infrastructure and Ports Development Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

According to him, the construction of the 5.1km bridge, costing about RM1 billion, had been awarded to a contractor through an open tender last October.

“In this regard, I urge the locals to give their full cooperation to the contractor to ensure that the bridge’s construction work goes smoothly.

“Upon completion, this state government-funded project will connect Sebuyau and Triso,” he said at the “Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat” programme here yesterday.

Commenting on the Sebuyau New Township project, Julaihi, who is also the Sebuyau assemblyman, said the project would be taken over by Land Custody and Development Authority.

“Today, we are also handing over the land title letters to the villagers of Kampung Seberang, Sebuyau — this proves the Gabungan Parti Sarawak-led government has a well-planned development plan for rural folks.

“Therefore, you should choose your elected representatives wisely to ensure that you have a better future,” he added.
