BAU: Tourism spots and socioeconomic activities are the main focus of development for Bau area under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA).

Recently, Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep has attended a meeting with the development agency regarding development projects within the Greater Kuching area.

He said, for Bau, the development work would be mainly on increasing and improving tourism spots and more on improving the socioeconomic activities for the people.

“As you understand, under GKCDA, all the YB’s (elected representatives) received certain allocations from the RM1.5 billion fund provided by the government.

“From the meeting, we have done studies and lab. Next, we will move on to get more information of what development projects the people want that can benefit them in their lives.

“Be it infrastructure projects, tourism sectors and other projects. In Bau, we concentrate more on developing our tourism sectors and socioeconomic activities,” he said.

Henry, who is also Deputy Minister of Transport, said this to reporters during his closing of Gawai open house event at Dewan Sri Singai, Kampung Sudoh here this morning.

He added that such a matter was needed here, especially in improving socioeconomic activities, in order to uplift the living standard of the people.

On another matter, he said that most areas in Bau had good Internet coverage and were well connected.

However, he said that as Bau is surrounded by mountains, there are certain spots that do not have access to the Internet.

“Our area is facing some Internet coverage problem because we have lots of mountains, so this affects the transmission of all digital line, but so far it’s okay.

“It is not an issue but not all areas have good coverage. There might be certain dark spots even in city areas, it happens and it’s a normal thing,” he said.

Moreover, he said that the state government would continue to work hard and bring in more developments that could benefit the people.

“As we progress, things are moving on and we start to see things being developed, so we must thank the government.

“So we must continue to work hard for the people, which is important,” Henry concluded.
