PUSA: The public is reminded not to completely believe anything raised on social media.

Member of Parliament for Batang Lupar Mohamad Shafizan Kepli said that some parties are less sensitive and selfish when using social media.

According to him, they deliberately stir up hatred and slander against something.

“Worse being an agent of provocation who always sees something the government is working on as not right…this is wrong, that is not right.

“While as a government, the people’s representatives always try their best, executing the trust tirelessly.

“It must be remembered that no government in any country is perfect and it is impossible to satisfy everyone.

“Therefore, I urge that when we use social media, do self-censorship. Do not be easily influenced by the negative issues raised,” he said during the Aidilfitri and Pre-Gawai Ceremony of SK Pusa near here, today.

In addition to easily be gullible, he advised against simply share something.

“We worry when it is not correct, it will be defamation.

“So, if we feel anxious or unsure, get used to asking…it is worrying if we accept things as they are, don’t do research and spread them, we publicise something that is not correct.

“The effect is quite dangerous and it is not impossible to disrupt harmony,” he said.

Therefore, Shafizan advised the community to take full advantage of social media channels with positive and beneficial things.

As recommended by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the way to use social media wisely is to share opinions, information and so on.

“Avoid discussing a negative issue with some contacts and always give hope instead of criticism. I invite all parties to be more responsible,” he added.
